Life During Pandemic: The Woods

During this time of not having sessions in person for an indefinite amount of time, I’m connecting with clients to find out how they’re navigating this #SaferAtHome order during the COVID-19 pandemic. Without further ado, meet The Woods. Their newest wee one, Morgan, is now 6mos, and her session was supposed to be April 4th. Learn how they’re handling this new life.

Katy: How are you handling the #Saferathome order?
Kathy: Its been interesting... Both Andy and I are essential workers. We have, for the past 2.5 weeks, figured out how to be part-time to keep ourselves and our kids safe. That has been a bit stressful. But now we both need to go back full time. We have 3 kids that need to be back in school (daycare… we call it school).

Katy: How are the kids doing?
Kathy: They are going stir crazy. They have not left the house/yard/neighborhood in 2.5 weeks! They will now be going back to daycare, now that we have to go back full time. So the kids will have some sort of their normal routine back for now. Avery starts her virtual learning and I just have to say thank goodness she is in kindergarten. Weston’s only in 3K and Morgan is only 6months.

Katy: What have you found yourself doing the most? the least?
Kathy: I feel like we have been doing the same things. Hanging out, walking, playing... We just haven’t been able to go anywhere; like the zoo.

Katy: What have you found yourself thinking the most?
Kathy: Trying not to go insane with my kids. LOL! Fear of the unknown. Working in healthcare; not knowing what I’m bringing home to my family. Trying to figure out how to relax my brain. And knowing there is nothing I can do about this situation but to relax and breathe.

Katy: Have you tried/done anything you always wanted to do but never had time for before all this?
Kathy: Working part-time. Haha. And I think I am not really cut out to be a stay-at-home mom. It has its challenges and special moments for sure.

Katy: In moments of overwhelm, what brings you back to yourself, to the present?
Kathy: My kids when they aren’t being a pain. Music: Classic Rock, 311, Dirty Heads, Avett Brothers

Katy: What's one positive thing you've told yourself a lot?
Kathy: That I have the most amazing family I could ever ask for. And that this chaos WILL all pass.
