Head First or Hibernate?
Welcome to 2026!
Whether you're a dive in head first person or someone who goes straight into bear mode and hibernates this time of year, one thing is clear: Wisconsin is wintering and shows us that productivity and growth are quieter, more subdued, and happening more deeply within the earth.
What does this mean for us?
Plan vs execute
Rest vs act
Perceive/feel our world vs shift/change our world
How does this work when I have to work, Katy? Fair question!
At work, where can you plan what's stirring within you instead of always feeling like you need to execute on those ideas? If you work an 8-10hr day normally, how can you create a small shift to work 7-9hrs instead? Or if you need to work 10hrs, can you be okay with less extra-curricular stuff so you can allow yourself rest? If others are creating a lot of action and you feel caught up in it, how can you take some space to feel into/perceive what's unfolding vs forcing yourself to be one of the shifters/changers of a situation?
These little shifts give us permission to be human instead of a machine. To be nature with nature because the reality is, we are nature. Whether we honor this fact or not, our bodies feel this fact, and the less we ignore it, the more our nervous systems will thank us, and the more we can show up more fully for the things that matter most.
So, what are you planning, resting, and/or sensing into this time of year? Share with me! I'd love to know!
