Rebel with Aliveness
You are alive, right now. Let me repeat that: You are alive.
Can you feel your heart beating? Place your hand there a moment and take a long, slow, deep breath.
How many of us feel our aliveness daily?
How many of us feel ashamed of our aliveness when we notice it?
How many of us feel cut off from our aliveness?
We feel life every day. Whether we recognize that or not, we are constantly sensing life, but most of the time that gets buried under all our roles, our masks, our fears of what expressing our true aliveness will mean.
Will I lose connection if I express my anger?
Will I ever find sparkle in life again if I feel this deep grief?
Will I be seen as weak if I cry because I miss a loved one while traveling?
Will I be seen as sexual if I move my hips a lot while dancing?
Women in particular have been conditioned in our culture to disconnect from our bodies, our aliveness, our sensuality and taught that logic and mentally processing life is far more important and helpful than the information our bodies give us. Practicing presence, practicing sensuality (sensing life), practicing tuning into our aliveness, is a rebellion, it’s a reclamation.
It begins with noticing, right now, what has touched you, what stirred your soul, and breathe into that. It begins with sighing when it feels good and not just when you’re finally home on your couch with no one around to wonder why you’re sighing. It begins with letting what turns you on (sexually OR simply energetically!) linger just a bit longer. It’s releasing moans or groans from deep within your belly when you’ve had a long fucking week and moving through anger with a good bounce, shake, or dance moment in your living room.
What a fucking gift to be alive, huh? And how cool that we are conscious enough to feel that we are. Let yourself feel life within you, love. Every second that you do, the world settles a little bit more with you.
